The Essex Resort & Spa, Essex

The hotel rooms were absolutely beautiful, upscale, quaint, and charming until the heating was turned on, making it feel like being in a tunnel on the red line heading into the city. The service was responsive to all our needs and requests, led by the friendly and helpful spa manager. While the location was peaceful and an excellent base for Vermont sightseeing, the dining experience, albeit appreciated for its hot drink, waffle, and bacon, had slow service and unexceptional food. Overall, a mixed experience with some highs and lows to consider.

The hotel offers well-equipped and clean rooms with kitchenettes, ideal for longer stays or dietary restrictions, although lacking a cozy feel. The service is friendly and polite, albeit with some issues like a long-term broken tub. The location is perfect for various activities and provides shuttle services. Dining can be slow, but satisfactory with room for improvement. Overall, a pleasant stay with minor drawbacks.

Returning to the hotel at 3 pm, our room wasn't made up, but once it was, it was unique and very clean. Despite the lack of necessity, the room even had a fireplace for added coziness on not so cold days.

The hotel offers nice rooms decorated with a culinary theme, although the bathrooms are more basic. The service feels accommodating and friendly. The location is peaceful yet convenient for exploring nearby attractions. Dining was highlighted as absolutely amazing, particularly at the Tavern.

I had a mix of experiences with the rooms at this hotel. My first room had some issues, with mildew in the bathroom, a filthy air vent, and one of the smallest bathrooms I've ever seen in the US. However, after switching to a different room, I found it to be large and well-furnished, making for a comfortable stay.
